Make it a routine.
Kids thrive on a routine and knowing what to expect. Schedule a time every week for family clean up. Help your child by placing large plastic colored tubs in their room. Label each tub with a picture so they know where everything goes. Having a place for everything makes clean up easy.
Deal with the mail.
Handle mail as soon as you take it into the house. First, sort mail over the recycling bin. Recycle junk and then shred unnecessary personal docs. Last, assign mail to an owner and place in a labeled container with slots. Handle action mail every weekend so you stay current.
Clear your counter tops.
Clear counters make for a happy chef. Do you really use that giant mixer everyday? If not, put it away. This goes for all those big electronic appliances such as a toaster, coffee machine and can opener.
